The Danish company Montana has just launched the chair GUEST, a new design by Kasper Salto & Thomas Sigsgaard, that stores in your shelving unit, when not in use.
The two Danish designers say about the chair:
“Already ten years ago we began to reflect over the fact that the urban populations are moving towards the cities. Many things indicate that the urban population will double within the next 40 years. With GUEST we have illustrated our approach to design: “searching” for a problem and then solving it in the best possible way. To create extra seats yield the question of storage when they are not in use. We examined our homes and work places to find a suitable place for storing extra seats. The result is GUEST, a chair which is near at hand and not in the way.”
“Kasper and Thomas have created a design – GUEST- which is quite different compared to what we have seen earlier. They re-think the extra seat and not least the storage of the guest chair, the folding chair, the stool, the piano chair, the children’s chair in the living room, the chair for the dorm room and the informal conference chair. ”, says Joakim Lassen, Director, Design & Communication, Montana.
GUEST is ready to use in a few seconds – with one single grip the legs unfold, then mount the seat and a comfortable chair is ready to use. When the chair is not in use, it may be put away in the Montana shelving system.
