This Student Apartment Makes You Want to Go Back to School

When the Amsterdam-based multidisciplinary design studio Standard Studio was tasked with transforming an office building in Rotterdam into 218 studio apartments for freshman students, they drew inspiration from the tiny house movement. The 18 m² apartments in The Hermes City Plaza Student Housing are self-contained and fully equipped with a toilet, shower, vanity, kitchen, dining table, desk, couch, queen-size bed, and ample storage space. To accommodate these features, the furniture serves dual purposes, and the room’s height is maximized.

The sink, divided by a floating panel, serves as both a basin with a mirror on one side and a kitchen sink with a handy chalkboard on the other.
