Small 30m2 House Went From Outdated to Outstanding

What was once a porter’s abode adjacent to a modernist building is a now a contemporary, fully functional tiny house called Casa Zaire. And, while the little property once was a drab, dated, and non-functional space that was entirely undervalued, it is now a work of art thanks to Paulo Moreira Architectures.

This 30m2 tiny house is situated to the rear of a modernist building in Rua do Zaire, Porto. It’s off the beaten track, isolated and perfect for those wishing to live the ultimate urban lifestyle without the burden of possessions or the hustle and bustle.

The ground floor makes use of the original tile flooring, with its dark shade contrasting beautifully against the new blue coastal coloring and natural wood bench. The kitchen encompasses one corner with ample storage, lovely blue coastal hues and a beautiful sink and gold amenities. It also joins to the staircase with storage that leads you up to the bedroom

 It’s not only the eclectic mix of old and new décor that makes this property special; it’s the layout. Paulo Moreira Architectures reshaped the flow of the living area, bathroom, and hall – all to make better use of the space. The stairs were also repositioned to add more space to the side balcony and kitchen, allowing more of a central area instead.

The clever shape of the staircase allows for a dining nook, complete with repurposed chairs.

The bedroom is fit for a king, with a variety of new levels adding depth of space, more storage, and a fresh new look.

The unconventional partnership of materials evokes a sense of contemporary elegance.

The architects made the most of the space with a wall-to-wall shower complete with tiles.

The bathroom has seen a facelift with new amenities, wall tiling, and a luxurious shower.
