French tiny house company Baluchon was tasked with the job of creating a small house for the comfort of a family on a fishing trip in Rhône-Alpes, France. The 3.3 x 2.3-metre tiny home may be a small house, but it’s undeniably a comfortable and exceptionally well thought out space for the average couple or small family.
The tiny home is set upon a single-axle trailer with cedar cladding and aluminium accents. Its spruce frame keeps it light, while the cotton, linen, and hemp insulation means it remains warm and cosy year-round.
What’s more, it’s lightweight and easy to tow at just 1,600kg. With a seven-hour B96 training course under the owner’s belt as per French regulations, it’s ready to go anywhere the average vehicle can.
The single-axle trailer comfortably sleeps three, with a kitchenette, bathroom, and seating area for convenience.
The conservative floorplan maximises the available space, with an equipped kitchen and a desk area that doubles as dining table.
Storage is plentiful, with slide-out shelving adjacent to the desk area.
The sofa bed comfortably seats a family but also has built-in storage underneath.
Once night falls, a comb bench pulls out and forms a bed.
The bed has enough space for two people to sleep comfortably, and can then be folded back up into a sofa in mere seconds.
The kitchenette has a beautiful black sink, fridge, and hot plate set into a farm-style wood cabinet. The setup is perfect for cooking meals after a full day of fishing.
The bathroom is discretely hidden behind a sliding door near the kitchen.
A 70 x 70-centimetre shower ensures that even on the road, everyone in the family can remain fresh and clean.
The private compost toilet is practical and convenient on fishing trips with family and friends, with an opening window for ventilation.
Even though this tiny house is a mere 3.3 x 2.3 metres, it still has a sleeping area for a third person. This nook comfortably caters for a child and is secured by a net. There is a storage area at the end of the bed and below it.
