Some tiny houses are so compact that they demand extraordinary creativity, and this Swedish design is a perfect example. Sofia, a 6.1 m (20 ft) x 2.55 m (8.4 ft) tiny home by Vagabond Haven, offers just 16 m² (172 ft²) of living space but makes every centimeter count with its blend of smart functionality and Scandinavian charm.
One of its most ingenious features is the bed, which not only incorporates plenty of built-in storage but also conceals a slide-out dining table and bench. This clever design transforms the sleeping area into a cozy dining nook in seconds.
Large panorama windows and a skylight above the bed invite you to stargaze at night or wake to the soft glow of morning light. For added warmth and ambiance, Sofia can also be equipped with a wood stove, making it the perfect retreat during cold Scandinavian winters.
While comfort is clearly at the heart of Sofia’s design, practicality hasn’t been forgotten. The home includes a full bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen, and flexible electricity and plumbing setups for both on- and off-grid living. Designed as a peaceful holiday getaway, Sofia offers a beautiful balance of style, simplicity, and function, proving that small can truly be spectacular.
Sofia is a 6.1m (20 ft) x 2.55m (8.4 ft) tiny home by Swedish tiny house company Vagabond Haven. It offers 16m2 (172 ft²) of living space while still providing a king-sized bed, a storage loft, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
Its exterior consists of spruce, ThermoWood, Oxygen Wood, or Shou Sugi Ban siding, depending on your preferences. This is paired with a lightweight and durable aluminum roof, insulated two-pane windows, and a tempered glass exterior door. The entire shell is well insulated with eco-friendly recycled textile insulation.
Finally, Sofia’s appearance can be customized to your needs. You’re able to choose your preferred color for the siding, windows, door, and roof.
Walking inside Sofia, you can’t help but be astounded by the beautiful Bohemian-style interior. The 3.10m (10.2 ft) room height, combined with light spruce panel or plywood walls, offers the illusion of more space. The flooring is also clean and modern, consisting of laminate on the ground floor and spruce in the loft spaces. Both the flooring and wall colors are also customizable.
The king-size bed with panorama windows and a roof light is tucked away in the rear of the tiny home. The bed sits atop a storage unit, maximizing all available space in the house.
With one small action, Sofia’s occupants have somewhere to sit and eat. A cushioned bench seat and table pull out from the storage unit under the bed. This area is well-illuminated with ceiling-mounted LED lights or spot lights. When ordering a Sofia tiny home, you can choose between one-phase or three-phase, 230V or 400V, and 32A or 16A power supplies. Vagabond Haven will make country-specific adjustments.
The living room is beautifully set up for relaxing, with fresh white walls and a comfortable seating area next to the bed. There is also an air-to-air heat pump above the door, with this heat source supplemented by various other forms for on- and off-grid living. You can choose from electric radiators, an infrared heating mirror, infrared floor heating, an electric towel radiator, a wood stove, and a pellet stove.
The kitchen is centrally located between the living/bedroom space and the bathroom. It offers veneer, MDF, or plywood cabinets, a three-layer oak board countertop for meal prep, and a protective glass panel.
While Sofia’s upper and lower cabinets have a beautiful, fresh white finish, you can choose your own color to suit your preferences. A small fridge is designed to tuck underneath to save space.
Occupants can cook to their heart’s content with a microwave oven and induction or gas cooktop with a kitchen hood. There’s also a small fridge. The kitchen sits below a storage loft in the ceiling space.
There is also established plumbing in Sofia, with an easy exterior connection, stainless-steel pipes, and the option of a water tank and pump or a rainwater harvesting system. Hot water comes courtesy of an energy-saving electric or gas water heater.
Modern and fresh, the team at Vagabond Haven has put a great deal of effort into planning Sofia’s bathroom. It has the same beautiful flooring and walls as the rest of the tiny home. It even comes equipped with your choice of toilet: a flush toilet, Separett Villa composting toilet, or a Cinderella incinerating toilet. There is also a cupboard with a washbasin, wetroom-approved walls, and your choice of an infrared or regular mirror.
Adjacent to the washbasin is a shower cabin, with your choice of a curtain or a glass door. You can choose your preferred color for the cabinets and bathroom floor.
Sofia is a shining example of how thoughtful design can turn even the smallest footprint into a luxurious, livable space. Every element — from the slide-out dining table to the panoramic windows — is crafted with purpose and care. Whether used as a serene weekend retreat or a minimalist full-time home, this Swedish tiny house proves that downsizing doesn’t mean compromising on comfort, beauty, or individuality.
