French tiny house company Baluchon has made a name for itself by producing some of the best tiny house designs in the industry, and they’re at it again with ‘La Sorcière’ (The Witch), built for Normandy-based customer Marion.
The beautiful red cedar-clad home on a double-axle trailer is 20 feet or six metres long and boasts sleeping space for up to four people. It also comes equipped with a shower cabin, dry toilet, storage staircase, large kitchen, and a beautiful fold-down breakfast bar.
While the build and buy costs for La Sorcière and other Baluchon builds are not available on their website, they typically sell for between USD 91,000-108,000 or €80,000-95,000.
PinLa Sorcière or ‘The Witch’ is a gorgeous red cedar-clad tiny home built by French tiny house company Baluchon for Normandy customer Marion. It has been built on a double-axle trailer and spans 20 feet or six metres.
From the beautiful red wood cladding and aluminium double-glazed windows to the small touches like the weather vane and colour coordination, this tiny home can’t help but win you over.
PinBaluchon has left no stone unturned in creating a charming and comfortable abode for their customer. Not only is there a striking frame truss under the gable roof ladder to add to its appeal, but also a long planter that will literally bring the tiny home’s exterior alive.
It also benefits from all the comforts and convenience you’d expect from a house on wheels, such as an RV-style hookup and hemp, linen, and cotton insulation for year-round warmth.
PinThe interior’s lightness, brightness, and spaciousness will surprise anyone who walks through the main entrance. The light solid oak and spruce offer the illusion of space, while the large windows let in plenty of natural light. The high ceilings in the living area also make the room appear much larger than it is.
PinPinWhile there is a bedroom for the tiny home’s main occupants, the living room features a large convertible sofa that can be transformed into a comfortable bed for two. Adjacent lies the wood stove, ensuring guests and homeowners can remain warm and cosy year-round.
PinThe kitchen is positioned in the centre of the tiny home, and a window above the kitchen cabinetry provides Marion with panoramic views of her garden. It’s also hard not to fall in love with the contrasting use of woods paired with maroon cabinetry for warmth.
PinThe breakfast bar is undoubtedly one of this tiny home’s most attractive features. It provides ample space for two guests to dine side by side. However, it can also be used for work, study, meal preparation, and more.
PinOnce you no longer need to use the breakfast bar, you can fold it flat against the kitchen counter and make use of the available space for something else.
PinWhen Marion enlisted the services of Baluchon to build her tiny home, she emphasised the importance of a completely functional kitchen. Marion wanted as much storage space as possible for her kitchen equipment and all the kitchen essentials like an under-counter refrigerator, electric oven, and two gas hobs so that she could cook up a storm.
PinTiny homes typically lack storage, but not La Sorcière. This tiny home has storage built into the staircase, shelving next to the bathroom, and a full-height wardrobe for clothing and footwear.
PinThe mezzanine bedroom is Marion’s very own personal retreat. It features a generous 140 x 190cm bed, a storage unit, a tapestry-covered gable, camouflaged LED ribbon for soft lighting, and plenty of natural light courtesy of the two side windows. Marion also gets to enjoy the lightness of the solid oak and spruce.
PinThe bathroom in this tiny home is located at the end of the house. While simple, it boasts a dry toilet, cabinet with sink, wall shelves for storage, and an air extractor. Plenty of natural light can also filter through the large opening window.
PinThe dry toilet is much more advanced than you might think. It has a stainless-steel bucket that houses shavings for an odour-free toileting experience.
PinThere’s no ‘roughing it’ in Marion’s house. Her bathroom features a shower cabin with a luxurious 100 x 80cm shower.
