When a retired couple had a 2000 30-foot Airstream Classic Twin passed on to them, they knew they wanted to do something special with their new family heirloom. Timeless Travel Trailers, an authorized and experienced Airstream upfitter in Colorado, was up for the challenge.
The couple wanted to re-design and renovate the Airstream’s interior to make it feel like home while also being something special their son could inherit later. Timeless Travel Trailers used their experience with new and vintage Airstreams to create something truly special for their clients.
Stepping through the entrance door into the lounge area, you’re greeted by a light, bright, and spacious interior that feels like a breath of fresh air. The newly laid luxury vinyl flooring adds a modern touch that is not only stylish but also practical and durable, perfect for the couple’s needs.
Before: While the Airstream was perfectly functional before its makeover, it was also dark, dated, and dull. It used to have a dark sofa in the rear, dark flooring, and a dinette with a dark wood table and richly patterned upholstery.
While suitable for its era, Timeless Travel Trailers knew they had to brighten up this worn, classic interior. The most significant change in this area was removing the dinette in favor of a larger kitchen area.
The Airstream’s once dark and dated interior has been transformed into a fresh, modern, and inviting living space, perfect for gatherings of family and friends. The renovation included the installation of new luxury flooring, custom drapes, and Roman shades, complemented by updated overhead and accent lighting to enhance the ambiance.
However, the kitchen cabinetry is undoubtedly the most noticeable change. The dark dining booth is gone. In its place are more kitchen cabinets. The sleek modern paint, stainless-steel handles, and stark white countertop are attractive additions to this transformed trailer.
While the old sofa was practical, it failed to make optimal use of the available space. In its place, a U-shaped lounge suite now stands, featuring fresh and modern upholstery. The previous dinette has been removed, making way for a versatile table that now takes pride of place in the center, complemented by built-in storage for added convenience.
While the table in the living area looks like a regular oak coffee table, it’s much more than that. It can be extended out to form a large dining table for family and friends.
When guests come to stay, the coffee table/dining table combined with the U-shaped sofa can quickly become a comfortable guest bed for two people.
Before: The former Airstream interior was not as practical or as comfortable as it could be. It consisted of a traditional sofa, a fold-down table, and a cumbersome cupboard to house the TV. The cream drapes also made the living space appear tired.
The living area has been entirely transformed into a light, bright, and spacious area to relax. The fold-town table has been removed, and the TV is now tucked into the solid surface countertop with a TV lift. The kitchen cabinetry even has a wine refrigerator for easy entertaining.
The old mouse fur and vinyl wall linings have been fortunately removed, revealing the Airstream’s original aluminum walls. These have been meticulously patched and painted, transforming the entire interior. The new stark white color scheme injects a much-needed freshness into this family heirloom, revitalizing its appearance and ambiance
While the original kitchen cabinetry was kept in place, new cabinetry doors were added throughout. They were also all given a fresh coat of paint to tie in with the wall colours and countertops.
Before: The former kitchen was dark, dated, and impractical, with old, inefficient appliances. There also wasn’t enough lighting for late-night snacks and meal prep.
This Airstream’s kitchen has been entirely transformed with a solid-surface countertop, new curb-side galley cabinetry, a new vent hood, and a Furrion oven. It also has additional lighting to make cooking in the evening much more effortless.
Additional cabinetry has already extended the workspace, and further enhancements include an over-the-sink chopping board to cover the sink when not in use. The installation of a new undermount sink and pull-down faucet also contributes to easier cleanup, optimizing both functionality and space
It has been out with the old and in with the new throughout this beautiful Airstream. The Airstream benefits from a new refrigerator, fans, A/C units, a furnace, and a water heater.
It’s hard to believe it’s the same kitchen. It’s entirely functional and spacious for vacations or year-round living.
There’s no shortage of storage space in this entirely transformed Airstream. A wardrobe in the kitchen is home to a new set of shelves and a washer/dryer combo. It’s tucked away out of sight for convenience.
Before: Looking from one end of the Airstream to the other, it’s easy to see why the owners of this Airstream wanted to give it a new lease on life. It was tired, dull, and needed some life injected into it. Even the lined ceilings looked tired, with the panels sagging in the middle.
Alongside a fresh new interior, Timeless Travel Trailers also installed pocket doors to separate the sleeping area from the main living area. The toilet and bathroom now have beautiful new doors with porthole windows.
Before: While practical before its renovation, the bathroom was undoubtedly dated. It had yellowing cabinetry and old-style fixtures. It also severely lacked adequate lighting for comfortable midnight toilet trips.
Everything about this new bathroom screams fresh, modern, and inviting. It has new bathroom walls, and all cabinets have been painted. The cabinet doors are also brand new with beautiful stainless-steel handles. A white countertop completes the look. The paint scheme and materials tie in seamlessly with those found in the kitchen.
Showering has been transformed into a luxurious experience with the installation of an all-new stainless-steel shower. The upgrade is complemented by new shower fixtures and a teak duckboard, completing the sleek and modern look.
Before: The bedroom in the rear of the Airstream was entirely comfortable, but it was far from luxurious. It has had a complete overhaul from its dated former life.
The overhead cupboards now have fresh, new, painted doors. There is also abundant storage and a modern table between the two beds.
More storage can be found adjacent to the bed in the bedroom, including closets and nooks. The TV has found its final resting place on the wall, facing the bed.
