Cat is a solo traveler who provides online tutoring services while traveling in her 2013 Flying Cloud Airstream Trailer, with two furry friends. While her Airstream dubbed ‘Cat’s Pajamas’ had great bones, it lacked the wow factor and it also needed more storage space. Seeking a transformation, she turned to Timeless Travel Trailers who revamped her classic Airstream into a breathtaking home on wheels.
Cat’s 2013 25RB Flying Cloud Airstream Trailer was reasonably practical, but it wasn’t 100% suitable for her needs as a full-time solo traveler with two animals. She needed more storage space, a touch of luxury, and contemporary elegance.
Timeless Travel Trailers worked their magic, and the difference is incredible! Just look at these before and after shots. Timeless Travel Trailers removed part of the lounge, added a storage cabinet with five drawers, and tucked the electrical panel out of sight. They also removed the bump-out sink and installed a spacious, stylish, farmhouse-style one. This simple change made the kitchen and living space one seamless and open area.
Even the addition of stark white cabinetry paired with the blue dining area upholstery made all the difference – turning a ‘classic’ Airstream Trailer into a modern and fresh house on wheels.
Cat’s Pajamas is now a fresh, modern, and welcoming home for Cat and her furry friends. The dining area has new upholstery and extra storage. There is also a new storage compartment with a drawer underneath the curbside dinette bench. Timeless Travel Trailers thought outside the square to include more storage space in the same footprint.
The original tabletop in the dining area was functional, but it was by no means exciting. The Timeless Travel Trailers team replaced it with a walnut butcher block table. As it matches the kitchen countertops, the Airstream Trailer is more cohesive. Striking matte black reading lights above the dinette tie the whole look together, adding much-needed modernity.
The previous wood-look flooring was cold-looking and lacklustre. So, it was replaced with durable LVT wood-look flooring. The deeper wood color added extra warmth, while the materials of the luxury vinyl tiles were durable for Cat’s pets.
White Cabinets and Matte Black Hardware
With the Airstream Trailer’s cabinetry already in great condition, it didn’t make sense to replace it. But it sure did need something! Timeless Travel Trailers painted it in a refreshing white color and paired it with matte black hardware. When the walnut butcher block counters were added, it was a match made in heaven! The white and black color scheme also makes this area look larger than it is.
But the changes don’t end there. The renovation team partially removed the sink and galley cabinet, replacing it with new cabinetry that takes up less space and a new sink with a pull-down faucet for washing-up convenience.
Having a microwave in an Airstream Trailer is likely convenient, but Timeless Travel Trailers chose to remove it. This gave Cat more storage space above the fridge.
It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint, new hardware, and new flooring can do. The Airstream’s interior is fresh, vibrant, and even seems more spacious. It’s hard to believe it’s still the same floorplan!
The new flooring and beautiful fresh walls provide more glow towards the bedroom, shower room, and toilet at the rear of the Airstream.
Walnut Sliding Barn Door
One of the most standout changes to Cat’s Pajamas was the walnut sliding barn door leading into the bathroom. The use of walnut wood was strategic because it both enhances that farmhouse-style theme and ties in with the dinette tabletop and kitchen countertops. It also works well with the luxury vinyl tiles. The renovation team even used the same matte black hardware for a more cohesive look.
However, the impactful changes don’t end there. Moving the sliding door to the inside of the bathroom meant there was extra wall space in the hallway. Cat could use that extra space for artwork and coat hooks.
The bathroom received a complete overhaul to help it tie in with the rest of the Airstream. It’s very much in a farmhouse style with the walnut counter, gorgeous black hardware, and a modern vessel sink. However, it retains its original bump-out cabinetry, a design staple from a decade prior.
The new stainless-steel shower is undoubtedly a standout feature in this Airstream. From the gorgeous teak duckboard and bench to the matte black hardware and shower door, it’s as modern and striking as they come. The renovation team also installed an easy-clean acrylic insert and a vista-view window. This means the shower has plenty of light but no less privacy. The shower is separate from the bathroom in its own unique room for convenience.
The Bedroom
With no need for a TV in the bedroom, Timeless Travel Trailers decided to remove it. They also installed new matte black reading lights, shelves in the small wardrobe, and a pull-out rack in the large wardrobe. Cat now has plenty of space for all her clothes and living essentials.
