This Award-Winning A-Frame Tiny Home on Wheels Is Unlike Anything We’ve Ever Seen

Nevada-based tiny home company Mainefactured Homes has well and truly turned the tiny home market on its head with one of their latest builds: Francesca. Designed by Annabella Mainette and named after her husband, Francesco, Francesca is an A-frame tiny house on wheels. It may well be the only one of its kind in the world—we certainly haven’t come across anything like it before.

And it seems people are taking notice, as this tiny home took home the Grand Winner/Grand Champion title at the 2026 Design & Build Xperience competition at EarthX in Dallas.

Francesca came to life after a couple approached Mainefactured Homes and requested a home that was ‘different.’ Hearing the word ‘different’ was all it took to pique designer Annabella Mainette’s interest. She got to work on what would become one of the most unique tiny home designs on the market.

Meanwhile, while Annabella was hard at work, the couple had been interviewing other tiny home builders and were preparing to move forward with another company. However, upon seeing Annabella’s design, they knew they had found ‘the one’.

From the A-frame cabin to the new, vintage, and modern features throughout, and the addition of the rooftop deck, Francesca was the very tiny home they had been looking for to call home.

After bringing it to life with exquisite materials such as oak, cedar, and walnut, Mainefactured introduced three versions as part of its series production, starting at $179,000: Casa Francesca Standard, Casa Francesca Signature, and Casa Francesca Founder’s Edition.

Tiny homes rarely get as interesting as this. Francesca is an A-frame tiny home with a rooftop deck, built by Nevada-based Mainefactured Homes and designed by Anabella Mainette, who wasn’t afraid to push the boundaries.

This award-winning tiny home spans 39 feet (11.8m) long, 10 feet wide (3m), weighs 25,000 pounds (11,340 kg), and offers 390 square feet (36 m2) of living space. As a park tiny house, it has a custom quad-axle trailer, and the owners must move it with permits and an adequate towing rig.

After Francesca was first debuted, Mainefactured introduced this spectacular home as a series production with three versions:

Casa Francesca Standard (starting at $179,000) delivers the complete signature A-frame design with a streamlined construction process, making it an attractive option for homeowners and investors looking for high-quality craftsmanship at a lower price point.

Casa Francesca Signature (starting at $199,000) adds a rooftop terrace that expands the home’s living space with a private outdoor retreat for relaxing, entertaining, or enjoying the views. It retains the dramatic A-frame interior while incorporating upgraded finishes and design details. (The spiral staircase is sold separately.)

Casa Francesca Founder’s Edition (starting at $239,000) is a limited-production, premium version inspired by Mainefactured’s award-winning prototype. It features handcrafted walnut cabinetry, premium fixtures, a custom steel spiral staircase, and other carefully curated materials selected by founder Anabella Mainetti. Each home also includes a numbered brass plaque, making it part of an exclusive founding series produced in very limited numbers each year

It’s clear just by looking at this tiny home that Francesca wasn’t designed to be conventional. It was built on commission for a couple seeking something just that little bit different. Mainefactured Homes more than delivered. This tiny home was crafted by hand with real oak and cedar hardwoods, reclaimed wood, vintage-style finishes, real tile, and thoughtfully installed windows.

Francesca is undoubtedly an eclectic mix of vintage and modern. However, it’s also something the world has rarely seen before: an A-frame on wheels. Yet, while most A-frame homes sacrifice interior space because of the steep walls, Francesca solves this problem through clever design choices. The living area is a classic A-frame design, but the home extends further back. This approach delivers ample living space, a spacious kitchen, and a comfortable ground-floor bedroom.

Entering the A-frame living area is a delight to the senses. The space is bathed in natural light from the abundance of windows, while also still feeling cosy from the cedar walls and ceiling. The gorgeous oak hardwood flooring, hand-laid in a herringbone pattern, is a striking feature in its own right. While conservative in its dimensions, the height of the living area from the A-frame design offers the illusion of additional space.

For year-round comfort, there are two mini-splits for AC and heat, as well as R-24 insulation.

There is a dramatic design transition from the rustic A-frame living area to the mid-century modern kitchen. Here, the custom-built walnut cabinetry becomes the star of the show. The gorgeous textured terracotta backsplash brings it to life and adds much-needed warmth. Once you get past the shock of the gorgeous, rich materials, you’ll also notice the abundance of storage space for all kitchen essentials.

Francesca’s kitchen has everything needed for everyday meal preparation: a two-burner induction cooktop, an oven, a tankless on-demand water heater, and a generous sink. A cabinet even hides a large refrigerator! A quartz countertop with black hardware completes the look.

The ground-level bedroom, bathed in natural light, is to the rear of the tiny home, adjacent to the bathroom. While it boasts the same gorgeous herringbone-patterned floors as the living space, it has a fresh white coat of paint to differentiate it from the rest of the home.

The hallway leading from the living area to the bedroom is intentionally wider than in other tiny homes. As a result, it provides plenty of space for a standing desk in front of a large window.

Among all the features in Francesca, this area is one of the designer’s favourites. When applying the striking bird wallpaper, Annabella ran out before she could cover the entire wall. Improvising, she installed vertical slatted wood to complete the look. Annabella described it as her happiest mistake, and it became one of the tiny home’s most defining features.

You certainly don’t feel like you’re in a tiny home when relaxing in the bedroom. The fresh white walls pair harmoniously with the herringbone floors and shiplap ceiling. While the ceiling might seem unusually low, there’s a large rooftop deck above it. The deck spans approximately 270 feet and is accessible via a custom-forged-iron spiral staircase.

The bathroom is opposite the standing desk in the hallway, between the bedroom and kitchen. However, the true beauty of the bathroom starts before you even enter. A gorgeous set of antique doors guides you through.

Annabella searched long and hard for antique doors that matched her vision. Eventually, she found them at a closing-down antique store. You can’t help but fall in love with the intricate carvings that boast so much character, soul, and history.

The green bathroom tiles add a burst of colour in the best possible way. Adjacent, a carefully positioned window lets in plenty of light and nature.

The vanity isn’t just a vanity, but a feature. The gold accents of the sink stand out against the dark green wall with surrounding walnut and oak features.

A spacious glass-enclosed shower takes center stage, with a large window framing the surrounding trees so you can enjoy the view while you rinse off. Even the trailer’s wheel well, tucked beneath the shower, has been cleverly integrated into the layout, proving that smart design can make even the trickiest constraints feel seamless.

The toilet is tucked into its own dedicated nook, creating a greater sense of privacy.
