‘Cramped’, ‘crowded’, and ‘small’ are three words that some people use to describe tiny home living. Yet, these three words are certainly not what you would use when discussing the beautiful three-part modular home built as a bed and breakfast by Shaye’s Tiny Homes in Auckland, New Zealand. The three-part design makes this tiny home suitable for individuals, couples, and families alike. Tiny by design, but certainly not by nature.
The modular tiny home, which is tucked away in a serene part of the Waitakere Ranges in West Auckland, consists of three parts – the main tiny house, a bedroom pod, and a portable porch. While they aren’t connected, Shaye’s Tiny Homes placed them next to each other to form one cohesive home unit. A walkway built into the porch blends everything together seamlessly. It leads to the main house and the bedroom pod’s door. The location of each component allows for a sheltered, paradise-like outdoor space.
This stunning three-part cedar-clad tiny home is tucked away in the Waitakere Ranges of West Auckland, New Zealand. Built by Shaye’s Tiny Homes, it’s a bed and breakfast that caters to individuals, couples, and families alike.
Three elements make up the tiny home: the main house, a portable porch, and a bedroom pod. The three areas are parked snugly together to form a cohesive home, but aren’t mechanically linked. The tiny house is built on a trailer, and the porch is portable with multiple jacking points.
The rosewood deck sets the scene for what’s to come. A set of stairs guides you to the bedroom pod and the outdoor living space. The clever placement of the bedroom pod between the house and porch means you can enjoy a sheltered, cosy indoor area with outdoor vibes. There are even pull-down screens to make it a comfortable space to enjoy in winter.
A fresh, bright, contemporary kitchen greets you when you enter the tiny home from the porch. It has a dining table that can accommodate two or more guests, a gas hob, dishwasher, and fridge. There is even a pull-out pantry. Shaye’s Tiny Homes installed two skylights and a generous window above the sink to let in plenty of natural light.
The wood tones of the dining table and upper cabinetry add some warmth to the space, breaking up the sterility of the white cabinetry and walls.
You can spend your spare time in the cosy and relaxing living area, boasting gorgeous views of nature through the large end window. The corner couch has storage space underneath and plenty of seating room for a family. You can also use it as a daybed or extra sleeping area.
The living space has a heat pump to keep the chill out of the air during the colder months of the year.
The bedroom pod is a serene space detached from the main tiny home but still very much connected. It has tall storage cupboards and a gorgeous feature headboard made from a decorative screen with lighting. There is also plenty of space for the king-size bed.
The second bedroom in the tiny home caters to three people. You can sleep comfortably in the queen bed with storage on the ground or the large single bed above it. Access the loft bedroom via stairs featuring storage.
You can sleep soundly at night in the charming loft bedroom above the second bedroom in the tiny home. A wood feature wall adds privacy and safety. There is also a well-placed window to let in natural light.
Shaye’s Tiny Homes purposely designed the bathroom to be moody, dark, and cosy to reflect the natural stone surroundings.
There’s a gorgeous rain shower, a mirror that demands your attention and offers the illusion of space, and an eye-catching vanity and sink. A simple toilet setup completes the space.
