In a market saturated with tiny houses designed to accommodate one or two residents, The newest model from Fritz Tiny Homes stands out as a game-changer by catering to families. While many tiny homes are praised for their minimalist charm and ability to embrace a simplified lifestyle, they often lack the space and versatility required for larger households. Fritz Tiny Homes recognized this gap and set out to create a tiny home that caters to the needs of families, breaking away from the conventional mold.
The model is called Halcyon 2, and it’s a version of their first offering, Halcyon, with an exciting new floorplan. Rather than having a single bedroom or sleeping area, Halcyon 2 is a more versatile option with an additional room in the rear to function as an extra sleeping space or an office, or a home gym.
Unlike its predecessor, Halcyon 2 offers unparalleled versatility with an additional rear room that can serve as an extra sleeping space, an office, or even your very own home gym.
According to Fritz Tiny Homes, they wanted to create something for people who want to live in a tiny home with enough space for additional family members. Its versatility will make it more accessible to many people.
Prices for Halcyon 2 start at CDN 232,500 + tax or USD 171,000, exchange rate dependent.
Halcyon 2 by Canadian tiny home company Fritz Tiny Homes is a modern 37-foot-long by eight-foot-six-inch wide tiny home reminiscent of an RV. It boasts full metal siding in a wood-like print and a solar system. Tiny home goers who wish to live entirely off-grid can also take advantage of additional off-grid features when they customize their tiny home package.
What you’ll first notice about Halcyon 2 is the attractive window-to-siding ratio. The big, beautiful fiberglass windows in the rear and sides let in plenty of natural light while allowing for convenient cross-breezes during the warmer months when the mercury skyrockets.
Fritz Tiny Homes was eager to ’bring the outdoors inside’, and they more than delivered in the living area. The generous rear window brightens the entire open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area. The window, paired with light natural wood and white walls, also makes the space appear larger than it is – an essential design feature in a conservative floor plan.
Fritz Tiny Homes wanted to explore new design elements in Halcyon 2, so they started with a trundle bed. It was the first time they had ever created one, and they custom-built it into the gorgeous green sofa. What looks like a couch frame underneath the upholstery is actually a pull-out drawer with a mattress. It’s the perfect option for any tiny homeowner catering to overnight guests.
Halcyon 2 is all about contemporary comfort, making the wall-mounted electric fireplace the perfect heating choice. Not only is it a clean and efficient form of heating, but it also ties in with the contemporary elegance of this build. Unlike a fireplace, it also takes up no floor space and requires no firewood storage or messy ash removal!
The Kitchen
Why fix what isn’t broken? Fritz Tiny Homes decided to use the same kitchen present in their first Halcyon model. It boasts the same stunning custom concrete countertops, full-size fridge, and built-in storage. Homeowners can also enjoy the combined eating area and workstation for space saving and convenience.
This kitchen’s design can’t help but grab your attention with how the colors complement each other. The warm natural wood flooring, exposed beams, and black faucet and window tone down the starkness of the white cabinetry and walls.
The kitchen in Halcyon 2 has everything you’d expect to find in a traditional kitchen, including a gas range, overhead microwave hood vent, and an abundance of storage space for all your kitchen essentials.
Tiny homes can’t help but feel and look a little cluttered, but you likely won’t be saying that about Fritz Tiny Homes’ creation. Tucked away in the rear of the kitchen is a slide-out pantry. It has space for all manner of kitchen essentials like cups and pantry goods. There is also a convenient drawer tucked away in the bottom of the stairs.
Fritz Tiny Homes knew the storage frustrations that tiny homeowners faced, so they more than delivered on the storage front. There is a storage ’hutch’ opposite the kitchen and a one-of-a-kind storage solution described as a front hall closet. There’s plenty of space for all the essentials you need to grab when leaving the house, like shoes, jackets, keys, and wallets.
Downstairs Bedroom
Halcyon 2 has what many tiny homes don’t: a second bedroom. Fritz Tiny Homes describes the nine-foot by eight-foot-six-inch space as a ’flex room’. Homeowners can use it as a downstairs bedroom or utilize the area as a gym, office, or multi-purpose room. For the purposes of staging, Fritz Tiny Homes set it up as a bedroom with a queen-sized bedroom and a headboard that functions as extra storage.
There’s more to this ’flex room’ than meets the eye, with a storage-laden bed. The bed lifts on hydraulics, providing a generous amount of storage space underneath. That feature, combined with the floor-to-ceiling windows for maximum sunlight, is a recipe for success!
You can never have enough mirrors. In this case, Fritz Tiny Homes chose to install mirrored doors in Halcyon 2. These reflect the beautiful outside view while offering the illusion of extra space.
Very few tiny homes on the market have wardrobes. Halcyon 2 is an exception to the rule. The flex room bedroom has a full-length wardrobe offering hanging space and deep soft-close drawers. Its white color scheme ties in seamlessly with the rest of the room.
The Bathroom
The bathroom area is adjacent to the bedroom and will surprise you with how much space it offers the average tiny home dweller. As you head into the bathroom, there’s a combination boiler, a full utility closet, extra storage space, and a washer-dryer combo with even more room underneath. Best of all, Fritz Tiny Home designed all extra storage space to be clean, tucked away, and practically invisible. ’Cluttered’ is not a word you’d use to describe this space.
Fritz Tiny Homes gives prospective purchasers options when exploring Halcyon 2 as their new home. You can choose between a flush or waterless toilet, depending on whether you plan to enjoy on-grid or off-grid living.
If you’ve seen Halcyon 1, you’ll recall the gorgeous concrete wedge-shaped sink, full-storage drawers, and deep medicine cabinet. Halcyon 2 has the very same standout elements in the bathroom. The plumbing is also tucked away in the walls, allowing for even more storage space and no P-trap hassles.
Many tiny home dwellers miss bathtubs when they downsize from a standard home to a tiny one. Fritz Tiny Homes ensures you don’t have to make sacrifices. Halcyon 2 features a full-size shower tub with beautiful glass doors. If you see a birdseye view of the floor plan, you’ll see that the tub pushes a little bit into the bedroom.
Loft Bedroom
While you might have to crawl into some tiny home lofts, that’s not the case in Halcyon 2. Meander up the stairs and walk straight into the loft bedroom with ample headroom. This means you’ll be able to stand beside the bed and get dressed for the day without crouching over.
Just as storage space isn’t lacking in any other part of Halcyon 2, it’s also not lacking in the loft bedroom. There is a closed storage unit with hanging space and six long, deep drawers. There’s plenty of room for all your bedroom essentials!
The loft bedroom in Halcyon 2 is where you’d easily want to spend most of your time! Windows on both sides allow for a beautiful cross-breeze, and there’s a stunning wood headboard that is the epitome of practicality. It has LED lighting, storage, and USB, all built into the hardwood. Everything you need can be within reach.
