Canadian tiny house builder Fritz Tiny Homes is renowned for its innovative designs tailored to both off-grid and on-grid living across Canada.
Recently, Fritz Tiny Homes took on the significant task of creating the ultimate getaway for the Alberta-based eco-tourism resort, Refuge Bay. The goal was to craft a tiny home where guests could rest, relax, recharge, and immerse themselves in nature. While they began with their standard Halcyon Stay model, it quickly evolved into something extraordinary. They introduced a Moon Room featuring a custom king-size bed on rollers, allowing guests to sleep under the stars. This bed even has a built-in trundle sofa that can be pulled out for additional comfort.
Beyond the enchanting Moon Room, the design emphasizes two main elements: breathtaking views and a central fireplace. These features were enhanced through expansive glass windows and a custom concrete fireplace by Phoenix, designed to complement the bathroom and shower. The fireplace utilizes LED lights and mist to create a realistic fire effect without actual flames.
Every detail in this tiny home has been carefully considered to create a truly magical retreat, from ample storage and a contemporary kitchen with matte black cabinets to a luxurious bedroom with a king-size bed, in-floor heating, and an elegant bathroom.
The exterior of the tiny home has also been meticulously designed, featuring a covered deck, a wood-fired hot tub, seating areas, and more.
Canadian tiny house construction company Fritz Tiny Homes built an off-the-grid tiny home called The Halcyon Stay for guests to enjoy in a rural, remote location. It’s a contemporary head-turner measuring 10’6” wide by 37 feet long.
Outside, guests can enjoy the covered deck, space for seating, wood-fired hot tub, picnic areas, and sauna. There is also insulated skirting and an awning for even more protection from the elements.
The ’Moon Room’ is a custom addition to the standing Halcyon model by Fritz Tiny Homes. It’s a relaxing and peaceful room during the day and at night when the stars are out.
Keeping in line with the contemporary theme, the living and dining area boasts concrete countertops constructed by Phoenix Concrete. They pair beautifully with the warmth of the treated ash ceilings.
The quaint kitchen has everything guests need for their stay, including an integrated fridge and freezer. This well-equipped space is beautifully designed with matte black cabinets, walnut accents, and upper walnut cabinets.
The living area is the heart of the home in The Halcyon Stay. Alongside the floor-to-ceiling windows letting in all-day sun, the space is also brought to life with the gorgeous custom couch from Retro Modern Designs. This area is also home to a front hall closet for convenient coat storage.
It’s hard not to fall in love with the living area as soon as you walk through the main doors. The large glass windows bring the outside indoors, while the fireplace quickly catches your eye once you’re inside.
This area doubles as the front entryway and guides you through to the bedroom area with a telescoping sliding door system for privacy and definition.
Visitors never need to worry about cold Canadian winters. The gorgeous custom concrete fireplace by Phoenix is both a source of heat and a feature in the living area. Known as an Optimist, it uses LED lighting and mist to create a realistic fire effect without actual flames.
There is also a mini-split for AC and heating, three fin radiators in an in-floor heating system, and a standard IBC combination boiler.
The bedroom is a spacious paradise for guests. It’s tucked away behind privacy doors and features a king-size bed with storage drawers to hold luggage.
The Moon Room is more than a place to enjoy the stars. It can also be a large open space for activities like yoga. Alternatively, guests can roll out the trundle couch and projector screen for movie nights.
The bed features a built-in trundle couch that easily pulls out for additional seating.
Falling asleep in the Moon Room is a true delight, with panoramic windows that immerse you in the natural beauty of your surroundings.
When you enter this contemporary bathroom, it’s hard to feel like you’re in a tiny home. It boasts a custom concrete vanity, open shelves, and a spa-like shower with floor-to-ceiling glass and an ipe wood bench. The bathroom also has a Nature Loo composting toilet for convenience. All bathroom, kitchen, and heating essentials are tucked away in a modular shed to keep the main living areas free for enjoying.
The bathroom is located at the rear of the tiny home and is accessible from the bedroom through a glass door.
