When is a tiny home not ‘tiny’? When it’s an 880-square-foot home consisting of two connected units and an entrance room or sunroom. Oregon-based tiny home company Tru Form Tiny proves that tiny home living doesn’t have to mean a cramped and crowded home for one or two people. It can be a peaceful and spacious haven for a family.
With up to five bedrooms, including two lofts, as well as two full bathrooms and spacious entertainment spaces, this tiny home truly redefines what it means to live tiny, yet with the same portable convenience as smaller tiny homes.
The Urban Park Max Linked was designed for a client who loved the original Urban Park Max model by Tru Form Tiny, but had two small children and needed more space. Not wanting to turn down a challenge, the company created something truly remarkable for the family.
The ‘Urban Park Max Linked’ is a not-so-tiny tiny home that reimagines small-space living. It’s composed of two contemporary units clad in tight-knot cedar, seamlessly connected by a light-filled sunroom that doubles as the main entrance. Blending natural charm with smart design, the home features warm cedar siding and energy-efficient Low-E glass windows for a beautiful yet performance-driven finish.
The main entrance functions as its own watertight unit, providing access to the home’s two connected sections. The primary unit includes a living room, kitchen, main bedroom, sleeping loft, and full bathroom. The second unit features two downstairs bedrooms, a sleeping loft, and its own full bathroom – making it an ideal setup for families or guests.
The entryway sets the scene for what’s to come. It’s a beautiful, light-filled room with wood floors and walls, exposed beams, and windows to let in plenty of sunshine. It also has two doors that seal tightly and link to the bedroom unit and the main home.
The living space is a quaint area in the heart of the home, connected to the outdoors via a large bifold door. It promotes indoor-outdoor living at its best – just bring your own patio or deck! The living area also leads to the loft staircase, which offers ample storage for added convenience.
The kitchen has been cleverly designed to cater to a family. It’s a fresh and welcoming space for cooking and entertaining. The acacia butcher block countertops are both practical and stylish, contrasting nicely with the flooring and cabinets. The farmhouse sink, situated below a window that brings in an abundance of natural light, completes the look.
Tru Form Tiny didn’t want the kitchen to appear closed in and cramped, so they opted for open shelving and upper cabinets that maximize the available space. The enclosed accent vent hood was a nice touch for both aesthetic and functional purposes. There is also a stylish DC-powered retro-style fridge!
Down the hallway in the central part of the tiny home is the main bedroom, which is spacious enough for a king-size bed. Adjacent to the bed is white armoire-style cabinetry that breaks up the woodwork to create a warm and restful space.
The main loft sits above the primary bedroom and offers a generous, flexible space that can serve as a bedroom, lounge, office, or storage area. It’s accessed via custom-built stairs with handcrafted treads and railings, designed in-house by Tru Form Tiny.
The main family bathroom is at the bottom of the stairs that lead to the upstairs loft. To create cohesion with the rest of the home, it features the same wood as the kitchen.
The vanity is custom-built at Tru Form Tiny. However, it’s not just the vanity that captures your attention; the gorgeous, modern shower is a relaxing sanctuary that features a mixture of different tile styles for freshness.
This charming bedroom is the first of two in the second unit. It’s a wide and bright unit with a small closet and a built-in desk. The large window lets in plenty of light to maximize comfort.
The third downstairs bedroom, located at the end of the hallway, mirrors the second, featuring a built-in desk and closet. All bedrooms and lofts have mini-split heating and cooling systems for convenient climate control.
The second unit includes its own sleeping loft, reached by a space-saving ladder
While most tiny homes only have one bedroom, the Urban Park Max Linked has two. It’s located just past the loft ladder and features a toilet, vanity, and bath.
