Guy, Gwenaëlle, and their daughter Orlane already live in a standard home, but the family enlisted the services of French tiny house company, Baluchon, to create a tiny house for them. While they’ll live in their traditional home year-round, they’ll use their tiny home as secondary accommodation. Occasionally, they’ll also travel with it and enjoy vacations in comfort and style!
The tiny home, Kajedenn, which means ‘meeting’ in Breton, is light, bright, modern, and designed to sleep up to five people in three sleeping areas. While the Baluchon website doesn’t list any build-and-buy costs for this model, you can typically purchase a Baluchon tiny home for between USD 91,000 to 108,000 or €80,000 to 95,000.
Kajedenn is a 20-foot-long (6m) tiny home constructed by French tiny home company Baluchon for Guy, Gwenaëlle, and their daughter Orlane. This beautiful home boasts striking red cedar contrasted against black aluminum double-glazed windows with black feature cladding. Kajedenn also stands out with its natural insulation made from hemp, cotton, and linen.
While Kajedenn’s outside is sharp, modern, and almost ‘moody’ in its appearance, the interior is anything but. Guy and Gwenaëlle wanted a light and bright interior, and Baluchon more than delivered with a solid oak and spruce interior.
White and natural wood with bursts of blue for vibrancy makes this tiny home stand out. Despite its spacious appearance, a wall-mounted 1,000w electric heater can heat the entire tiny house in winter.
While most tiny homes have steps or a ladder leading to the loft bedroom, Kajedenn has both. There is a small removable ladder that provides access to the built-in steps. This can be folded flat against the shelving unit when it’s not in use.
The kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped for a family. Two oak worktops provide plenty of space for meal prep, while the over-the-sink chopping board offers even more. The kitchen also comes fully equipped with a two-burner gas hob, a mini oven, and a small refrigerator.
There is also an additional table that can be folded down to free up space or kept in place to serve more people. You’ll also spot a generous wardrobe between the kitchen and the bathroom, which the family can use for clothing storage during their vacations.
The living area in Kajedenn is both modern and rustic simultaneously. The oak finishes add a touch of warmth, while the charcoal sofa bed and black accents provide much-needed modernity. The coffee table with an oak top completes the look.
Thanks to the large windows and entry doors, the living area receives plenty of light and sunshine year-round.
While the sofa is a comfortable place to sit and watch TV or read a book during the day, it can also fold down to a comfortable bed for up to two guests when required.
Kajedenn comfortably sleeps up to five people, with three beds upstairs, including a double bed in the loft area overlooking the living space. This room receives plenty of natural light courtesy of the entry doors downstairs and a side window near the bed.
The bathroom is both practical and aesthetically pleasing at the same time, with vibrant blue features and oak flooring. This beautiful bathroom has an abundance of storage in the form of a washbasin cabinet and shelving.
The bathroom has everything a family needs for a comfortable off-the-grid vacation, including a dry toilet with a stainless-steel bucket and shavings compartment. There’s also a window for adequate ventilation.
