This Dreamy Off-Grid Tiny House in Portugal Is an Artist’s Sanctuary in the Wild

Nestled into the countryside of Alentejo, south-central and southern Portugal, is a stunning nature-inspired tiny house that can’t help but feel like home. Portuguese architecture office Madeiguincho made it for two artists, who now call it home in a secluded part of Alentejo.

The tiny house on wheels is 183 square feet (17m²) and features a loft bedroom, a combined kitchen and living area, and a bathroom. While the exterior cladding is brown-oiled Japanese cedar with thermowood-framed windows, the interior is a combination of birch plywood and French oak with Portuguese pine flooring.

This functional yet stylish home has everything the homeowners need for everyday living, including a rustic wood stove for warmth and cooking, a fully functional bathroom with a large door offering an open-air shower experience, and unique living room doors promoting excellent indoor-outdoor flow. It’s also designed for off-the-grid living with solar panels, batteries, and a rainwater collection system. This sustainable setup in the heart of Alentejo is a beautiful example of simple living done right.
