Tiny house ‘Avalon’ by the well-known French tiny house company Baluchon invites its occupants to get back to basics. This simple yet stately home stands out from the crowd for its quality materials and design and has now found its forever home in Brittany, France.
Baluchon built the beautiful home for Adeline and Virginie, who specified their needs for the company to bring to life. From the natural interior and convenient loft bedroom to the modern and fresh bathroom and exciting kitchen, it has everything the new owners need for everyday living.
Every meticulous detail has been well thought out – right down to the coat hooks, which have been painted the same colour as the furniture.
Baluchon hasn’t publicly listed the price of the Avalon tiny house, but similar high-end models from the company typically range between €85,000 and €100,000 (approximately $94,600 to $111,300).
The Avalon is built on a double-axle trailer and measures 6 meters (20 feet) long. Its exterior combines warm red cedar with sleek black aluminum for a modern yet natural look.
As you enter the tiny home, your eyes are drawn to the soothing whitewashed walls, contrasted against the light, natural wood. These light colours are only broken up by the vibrant orange cabinetry and black metal stairs leading to the loft floor.
You may also notice that the oak coat hooks by the front door are the same colour as the furniture!
The staircase cutting through the kitchen is undoubtedly a standout, modern feature in Avalon. It features a custom-made steel stringer paired with oak steps leading you to the mezzanine landing.
This is your view when you enter the front door. The large orange feature wall catches your eye first, followed by the unique light features chosen to suit the owners’ tastes.
The vibrant orange hue ties in perfectly with the kitchen cabinetry, creating a cohesive and visually striking design. The cabinetry features two fitted units topped with warm oak worktops, adding both function and charm. Within this sleek galley kitchen, you’ll find an energy-efficient induction cooktop, a built-in fridge, a stylish black sink, and a space-saving oven – everything you need for everyday cooking in a compact footprint.
Despite its compact size, the kitchen comfortably fits a fold-down table where two people can dine, cook, or work. When not in use, it tucks away to free up space – and doubles as an extra kitchen counter when needed.
The living area is cosy and practical with a TV stand and wall unit to provide much-needed storage space. It also has enough room adjacent to the stairs for a two-seater sofa. The large windows open in this area to let in fresh air and plenty of natural light.
Upstairs, a light, bright, and spacious bedroom awaits. The mezzanine landing delivers a comfortable and generous area to get dressed, before leading you into the bedroom. With plenty of windows on both sides, you can enjoy a beautiful cross-breeze and an abundance of natural light.
The bedroom is also well-stocked with storage, featuring a cleverly placed piece of furniture at the end of the bed.
When planning the bathroom for their tiny house, Adeline and Virginie preferred a water-filled toilet. Baluchon delivered. The bathroom also has a full-height storage column.
A distinctive vanity and sink echo the kitchen cabinetry, featuring an oak countertop and bold, vibrant orange accents that tie the space together beautifully.
Adeline and Virginie have everything they need in their bathroom for everyday living, including an 80 x 80cm shower, a washing machine, and a clever folding drying rack mounted under the ceiling – a smart space-saving solution that keeps the floor clear.
