Forget Sleeping in a Loft – This Tiny Home’s Crawl-Away Bedroom Is a Cozy Little Sanctuary

Built to handle everything from frigid Canadian winters to blazing summer heat, The Hornby by Rover Tiny Homes is a thoughtfully designed 255-square-foot dwelling that blends comfort, practicality, and craftsmanship. Measuring 8.5 feet wide and 30 feet long, and weighing in at around 16,000 pounds, this RV-certified tiny home sits on a sturdy steel frame and is designed for easy transport.

Inside, the Hornby feels warm and inviting, with a cabin-like atmosphere and large windows that flood the space with natural light. Exceptional insulation helps maintain a comfortable temperature year-round, whether you’re tucked in during a snowstorm or enjoying a sunny day off-grid.

The layout includes a cozy queen crawl-away bedroom, a flexible loft that can be used for storage or extra sleeping space, and a spacious living area designed for both relaxation and productivity. A full four-piece bathroom and a complete kitchen make daily living easy and self-contained.

Built to residential standards, the Hornby is suited for both full-time living and seasonal stays. Prices start at $129,900 CAD for the base model, or $149,900 CAD for a fully equipped version.

The Hornby is an 8.5-foot-wide, 30-foot-long tiny home offering 255 square feet of living space, built by Rover Tiny Homes. It meets Z240 certification and is easy to transport thanks to its steel frame. It’s available for a base price of $129,900 or fully loaded for $149,900, with delivery available within three hours of Chilliwack, BC.

This eye-catching cabin-style tiny home captures a timeless look with its peaked roofline and natural, earthy palette that blends seamlessly into its surroundings. Rover Tiny Homes chose durable Duraclad metal roofing and siding, accented with Pro-Board and cedar shingles for added warmth and texture. Outside, a discreet mini-split unit provides efficient heating and cooling year-round.

Upon entering the tiny home, you’ll be amazed by how light, bright, and spacious it feels. The fresh white tongue-and-groove ceilings create the illusion of extra height and blend seamlessly with the white walls. Easy-care Mohawk waterproof laminate flooring and custom-built sage-green kitchen cabinets add warmth and contrast to the crisp white palette.

The kitchen, located in the middle of the tiny home, is a delightful space for preparing meals. With windows on both sides, natural light floods the area, making it easy to see what you’re doing.

In keeping with the cabin-style aesthetic, the slow-close cabinets for meal preparation and storage were crafted by Newcastle Cabinets. They’re paired with quartz countertops for a sleek, modern touch. A washer-dryer, full-size fridge, range, dishwasher, and propane on-demand hot water system make this a highly functional and practical part of the home. The craftsmanship throughout is especially evident in this space.

While living spaces in tiny homes are typically small and impractical, that’s not the case in the Hornby. Rover Tiny Homes carefully planned this living room for comfort, relaxation, and entertainment. There’s room to stretch out, watch TV, and play games.

The living area has a dividing wall to separate it from the rest of the tiny home. While in this space, it’s easy to forget that you’re even in the tiny home! For year-round comfort, Rover Tiny Homes installed a mini-split heat/air conditioning unit.

A large window at the rear of the tiny home lets plenty of light into the living area during the day.

The Hornby’s downstairs bedroom is cleverly tucked beneath the elevated living area—a cozy crawl-away that proves small doesn’t mean cramped.

This queen-size retreat is thoughtfully designed for comfort and practicality, offering built-in storage for clothes, books, electronics, and all your nightly essentials. Despite its compact footprint, it feels surprisingly functional and serene.

And the best part? No ladders. Unlike many tiny homes where late-night bathroom trips turn into climbing challenges, the Hornby keeps things simple. Just slide out of bed, stretch, and walk straight to the bathroom—no balancing acts, no 2 a.m. acrobatics. It’s smart, accessible design that truly puts livability first.

Tucked above the bathroom and accessed by a ladder, the loft offers a cozy spot that can serve as an extra sleeping area or clever additional storage.

The rustic-style four-piece bathroom sits adjacent to the kitchen with everything you need for full-time living. There is a full-size residential toilet, quartz countertops, and those same gorgeous sage-green cabinets, with an undermount sink.

The star of the show in the bathroom is the five-foot tub/shower combination. Many full-sized homes have less luxury in their bathrooms than this tiny home!

Every element of this small home has been carefully considered to make the most of its compact footprint. From the warm, light-filled interiors to the clever use of space and durable materials, it offers a simple, comfortable way to live year-round. Thoughtful craftsmanship and a timeless design make it feel grounded, inviting, and perfectly suited to life in any season.
