Sweden has long been admired for its clean lines, clever design, and deep respect for nature, all qualities that translate beautifully into the country’s growing tiny house scene. Swedish builder Vagabond Haven embodies this ethos with Julia, a 7.9 m (25.9 ft) x 3 m (9.8 ft) mobile home that proves small-scale living can still feel spacious, serene, and functional.
With its 27 square meters (291 sq ft) of thoughtfully designed interiors complete with an office nook, a cozy loft, and even a net mezzanine for lounging, Julia is a shining example of minimalist comfort done the Scandinavian way.
Julia is an extra-large tiny home measuring 7.9m (25.9 ft) x 3m (9.8 ft) produced by the Swedish tiny home company, Vagabond Haven. Attractive from the outside, it features spruce or ThermoWood siding, a lightweight aluminum roof, and mineral wool insulation.
It also comes with insulated double-pane windows and an exterior double door with tempered glass. Buyers can choose to add optional roof windows for extra light and ventilation. Weighing five tons, the home rests on a sturdy steel frame with wheels for easy on-site positioning.
For affordability and style, Vagabond Haven has used spruce or plywood siding throughout the tiny home, paired with laminate materials on the ground floor and spruce as the loft floor.
The main bedroom is in the rear of the tiny home, adjacent to a large window that lets in plenty of natural light. The generous 3.26 m (10.7 ft) room height has allowed for the installation of a hammock net under the ceiling.
A built-in storage and bookcase unit offers visual separation and privacy between the main living area and the bedroom.
The net loft is a multi-purpose space. Sleep there, relax, or even use it for storage. The well-placed window ensures it’s adequately illuminated for whatever activity you choose.
For dining, there’s an extendable table with a folding leg. The bench features built-in storage beneath the seats and within the backrest, which also serves as a divider between the sleeping and dining areas.
The kitchen consists of a three-layer oak board or plywood countertop, as well as cabinets with veneer, MDF, or plywood fronts.
It is well-equipped for daily meal preparation, featuring a metal or granite sink, an electric or gas oven, and an induction or gas cooktop, paired with a kitchen hood. There is also a small fridge/freezer. Water is supplied by a freshwater tank and pump or a rainwater harvesting system, while hot water is provided by a 50L electric boiler.
The kitchen is certainly well ventilated with an opening window adjacent to the kitchen hood. The black aluminum joinery complements the other black fixtures and fittings.
At the opposite end of the house, beneath the loft, you’ll find a cozy office nook and the bathroom.
How better to spend your free time than sitting in a hammock, soaking up the sunshine? Fortunately, you can even remain cozy and warm once the sun sets. There are various heating options in this Julia model for off-grid and on-grid living, including electric radiators, an air-to-air heat pump, a wood stove, and a pellet stove.
A convenient office nook is tucked away in the corner for work, study, or play.
The loft bedroom is accessed by a removable ladder that can be conveniently stored on the wall in the office nook when not in use.
The ceiling-mounted LED lights are an attractive addition to Julia’s living area. These are powered by a one- or three-phase power system, with the option for 230V, 400V, 32A, and 16A.
The loft bedroom serves as a peaceful retreat, with two windows flooding the space with natural light. Its light-toned siding enhances the airy, modern feel, while ceiling-mounted LED lights and a wall sconce provide a warm, inviting glow after dark.
The luxurious bathroom, accessible from the kitchen, can be customized to suit a variety of living preferences. It features a sleek vanity with a wash basin and the option to include either an infrared or standard mirror. Additional upgrades, such as infrared floor heating and an electric towel radiator, can be added for extra comfort.
Vagabond Haven has designed Julia with wet room-approved walls, laminate or PVC floors, and a hanging open cabinet and a freestanding cabinet. Occupants can also choose from a Cinderella incinerating toilet, a Separett Villa composting toilet, or a standard flush toilet. Lastly, enjoy comfort and privacy in the shower with separation glass and a curtain in front of the window.
With its balance of function, comfort, and Scandinavian simplicity, Julia captures the essence of Swedish design in a compact footprint. Whether used as a full-time home or a serene weekend retreat, this tiny house proves that living small can still feel wonderfully expansive.
