If you’ve been tossing up between living on a houseboat in the water, or a tiny house on the land, then why not have both? Impossible, you say? Think again, for Heidi-Ho shows it’s not only possible, but already been done.
Heidi-Ho is a hybrid of a tiny house and houseboat, built by the very imaginative Scott Cronk. While most houseboats are more boat than house, Heidi-Ho is a unique blend of a pontoon boat and a tiny home. It boasts a 30-foot pontoon boat with logs and is powered by a 115 HP Suzuki engine.
What’s more, another separating factor between a houseboat and this unique creation is that you can also transport it on land. The deck shrinks to a road-legal width of 8.5 feet, and you can remove the cabin from the boat for use as a camping trailer. It doesn’t get much more versatile than that.
If you thought the logistics of Heidi-Ho were exciting, then you haven’t seen what awaits indoors. From the galley kitchen with a three-burner range and oven, storage, and fridge, to the removable dining table, centre windows, and bench seating, this houseboat has it all. Completing the self-contained picture is the 175-watt solar panel, shower, composting toilet, stereo system, and swim ladder.
The pontoon can even form part of the house layout, with the rear doors opening up for stunning indoor-outdoor flow.
The inside of the houseboat is deceivingly spacious, with a lovely cabin-style cladding to tie the package together.
Once you’ve finished dining, you can fold down the double mattress to form the houseboat’s sleeping quarters.
There are plenty of windows to allow plenty of light and enjoy spectacular views.
A single bunk bed lowers from the ceiling to ensure this houseboat comfortably sleeps three at a time.
The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm, including a range, stove, cabinetry, and a dining area.
There is plenty of space to feed the troops – be it on land or in the water.
The bathroom boasts a shower and composting toilet for full convenience while you’re at sea.
The Heidi-Ho is currently up for sale for $64,000. More info here
